Elvis - I Was the One
My parents were 10 and 12 yrs old when this song was out. The sound
quality on this is so muffled, which I strangely like. It gives you a
sense of what it was like to hear it on the radio back in the day when it
was fresh and new. I think that's cool. I'm not going to explain why any
further. Mostly because I'm not sure why myself.
Jay-Z/Linkin Park- Numb/Encore
People can diss Linkin Park all they want. I still like them. I'm not
going to go ahead and say they're a top 10 or even a top 20 favorite of
mine, but when I hear them on the radio, I stop and listen. Favorite
line from Jay-Z: "Grand opening? Grand closing."
The Killers- When You Were Young
I'm really upset with the Killers right now. I was so down for them
when they came out. I thought the first CD was brilliant. No one else
sounded like them and Brandon was one of the hottest things I'd ever seen.
Then he grows an ill-advised mustache and lets his band release this
Coldplay ripoff. I feel tricked. By the way, when did Brandon decide it
was ok to sing like complete crap?
Robbie Williams- Lovelight
This is his first single off the new album. It's got an edgy pop feel
to it, along the lines of the single "Rock DJ". It's nothing totally
outstanding- sounds like it could be a companion to "Sexyback" actually.
I would like it a lot more if he wasn't singing falsetto. The DJ said he
worked with William Orbit among others on this CD, so that intrigues
me.
Jimi Hendrix- Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
This is one of those songs that inspires me to play air guitar. Which
is rare, because I usually instinctively go to air drumming. I wonder if
there is a quiz on quizilla that can tell you what your personality is
based on what air instrument you're prone to playing. Note:I checked- and
no there isn't. Perhaps I'll create one tomorrow. Probably not.
